I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
(Psalm 121:1-2)
In life, it’s easy to feel vulnerable—whether to financial strain, physical illness, relational rejection, or emotional challenges. We naturally sense our smallness, weakness, and defenselessness. But what does it mean to be part of the people of God? Among many other things, it means that the Creator of the universe never stops watching over and protecting you. He never takes a nap, is never distracted, and never turns away: “He who keeps you will not slumber” (Psalm 121:3).
But how can we really know this? Where is the proof?
The proof is on a hill called Calvary, where Jesus died. Jesus Christ became truly vulnerable, defenceless, and exposed, not just to adverse circumstances but to the forces of hell, receiving the judgment we deserved. He was overcome so that we might walk through life knowing with certainty that we are God’s children and that He is ever watching over us.
Celebrating 50 Years of God’s Faithfulness
This month, we had the immense privilege of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Fiji Bible College (CTEF), a testimony to God’s enduring grace. For over half a century, the Lord has sustained us, providing for our every need. It has been the policy of Ambassadors for Christ (SP) to never solicit funds, but instead, trust the Lord to provide. This reliance has brought us to our knees time and again, seeking help from our all-powerful God—and He has always been faithful.
The mission of the college is to restore the authority of the Bible in pulpits, so that the power of God and the good news of the Lord Jesus may be boldly proclaimed. There is only one Saviour and one solution to the problem of sin. We need redemption, but we cannot pay the price ourselves. Not only that, but the natural, fallen mind is at enmity with God; it doesn’t desire redemption because it loves the sin that enslaves it. This is why the Gospel is so vital, for only God’s power can save us. As John Newton wrote in Amazing Grace: “Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved.”
The Gospel brings us to our knees, and only when we see our spiritual poverty and mourn can we say we are blessed, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to us. This is our mission: to flood the South Pacific with the everlasting Good News of Jesus and to watch as He accomplishes His work through weak vessels like us.
From October 9th to 12th, we gathered for four daily sessions, exalting God’s faithfulness. We were blessed to have speakers from Australia and America open God’s Word for us, and we are deeply thankful. Among those who shared their insights were Dr. Buist Fanning, Larry Harris, Dr. Paul Felix, Dr. Rick Holland, Mr. Dan Rudman, M. Scott Bashoor, Dr. Richard P. Bargas, Dr. Adam Tyson, and Dr. Arthur Adams. Their messages richly blessed us, and we thank everyone for their prayers and support during this special occasion.
We also celebrated the graduation of 46 students from Fiji Bible College, with degrees ranging from Certificates in Theology to Doctorates in Ministry. It was a truly blessed evening. Additionally, four students graduated from the Ambassadors Institute of Vocational Training with Diplomas in Agriculture. We pray that their education equips them not only for their future careers but also that the truths of God’s Word would take root in their lives, producing a harvest for the praise of our glorious God.
God’s Provision
We also want to thank you for praying for the needs of AFC(SP). As many of you know, we were in serious need of a van to support our ministry. For some time, we were borrowing a church’s van, which added considerable pressure to our daily operations. We are overjoyed to share that the Lord has provided! Through the generosity of a dear friend, Thomas Harris, who gave sacrificially to the Lord’s work, we now have a wonderful new 12-seater Toyota Hiace van. We praise God for His provision and for your faithful prayers and support.
Thank You, Partners in Ministry
We cannot thank you enough for standing with us in prayer and generosity. Lastly, we are excited to announce the release of a new ministry video that showcases the history and breadth of the work in Fiji and the South Pacific. We would be deeply grateful if you could share this video with your friends and churches, encouraging them to join us in prayer for the work of the Gospel in this region. Thank you once again for your love, prayers, and partnership in the Gospel.
In Christ’s love,
Narayan, Savita, and the AFC(SP) Family
